Welcome to The Church of the Immaculate Conception
1180 State Highway 206, Greene, N.Y. 13778.
We are a Roman Catholic church family that supports each other in times of need and on our individual faith journeys. While we don't have a resident priest, we are blessed to have Father Paul Machira from Kenya as our pastor. Father Paul lives at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton NY and travels to Greene and Oxford to celebrate Mass and the sacraments. Our church family is very involved in parish life, community outreach, evangelization and faith formation. Come be part of ICC!
Please join us for the blessing of our new outdoor Stations of the Cross and Nature Walk by Bishop Douglas Lucia. Senior church members are welcome to drive around back and park on the grass near the stations. A tent will be set up there with chairs for our seniors or they can stay in their car to watch the blessing. Families can gather on the many benches out back and children are welcome to stretch their legs in the field. We hope that everyone will attend if possible. Many thanks go to mosaic artist Clyde Eckler, Wood craftsman Al Williamson, the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 11094, planning team members Ruth Coppola, Roger & Holly Connelly, & Pat Husband, Trustees, Parish Council members, station sponsors, building and grounds team members, Father Paul and the parish family that supports ICC.
History of this project: This outdoor Stations Of The Cross began as a dream many years ago of Pat Husband who thought the large shade trees behind our church would make a great place for praying the stations of Christ’s Passion. Clyde was inspired by the mosaic artwork being done at Greene Schools and agreed to take on the task of researching and creating the artwork using cut glass to form each mosaic. Al was happy to design and create the wooden house for each station. Knights Jim Norton, Anthony Browning and Chris Wentlent built the footbridge to start your journey. Don Brown and Chris trimmed branches and cleared the underbrush in preparation for the garden. Pat, Chris and Mary planted hostas and azaleas under the trees. Scott Bartholomew was hired to create the walking path with funds raised from sponsoring a station. Nate and Andrew Erickson stained each post. Rachel Colgan and her children now maintain the garden each week.
We hope you will visit these outdoor stations whether you stop at each one for prayer or simply walk the path and share your thoughts and dreams with our heavenly creator.
The event will take place outside for safety, rain or shine. PLEASE REGISTER YOUR ATTENDANCE HERE or by calling the parish office by Friday July 24.
